Dr. Karyn Houser - BS, DVM

Dr. Houser was born in Lansing, MI where she lived until graduating with honors from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and then a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She has worked in clinical practice for 29 years. She started out in general small animal practice, then worked several years with low-cost spay and neuter programs and relief work, before returning to small animal general practice in her past 11 years. Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in serving the needs of the animal shelters local to her, both in the capacity of veterinarian and administrator. In the past decade, she has also broadened her spectrum of patients to include exotic animals as she saw a large need to fill in her area. She is currently the managing veterinarian at Glenpark Animal Hospital, in Muskegon, MI and the veterinarian of record for Pound Buddies, the county animal shelter where she lives, and is active in supporting Operation Solo, an outreach to help educate owners on how to keep their outdoor dogs happy and healthy in their homes and out of the shelter. Dr. Houser has had cats all of her life, usually in multiple numbers! She currently lives with her 4 dogs, 6 cats, and gecko on the west coast of Michigan where she relishes summers on the beach. Her next aspiration is to become a member of the Turks and Caicos Veterinary Association so she can spend winters on the beach as well!  She is the proud mom to 3 grown daughters, and 2 grandchildren so far!
